An Analytical Study on Elsa Morante’s Concept of Literature
In the works of Elsa Morante, imagination acts as a fundamental matrix behind which is often hidden an intense autobiography. By virtue of this union between the real and the imaginary, literature represents for the author a bridge between herself and life on which to pass the most hidden emotions and feelings. In this perspective the present study intends to identify the role of imagination in Elsa Morante’s writing, which manifests itself in a particular way especially in the first novel Menzogna e Sortilegio, and to examine the actuality of Morante’s thought.
